On April 29, 2011, the Prince and Princess of Wales tied the knot.
With a unique glimpse inside their wedding day, Kate Middleton and Prince William are commemorating their wedding anniversary.
The Prince and Princess of Wales celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary on April 29 by releasing a never-before-seen photo from their wedding day.
The caption of the photo, which was posted on the couple’s social media accounts, said, “13 years ago today!”
The black-and-white photo displayed Princess Kate and Prince William standing together, grinning, while the royal bride held her bouquet, which was primarily composed of lilies of the valley, which is Queen Elizabeth’s favorite flower.
Kate looked stunning in her white Alexander McQueen V-neck gown with lace overlay and Queen Elizabeth’s Cartier Halo Tiara. She wore the dress to the Westminster Abbey worship service. Prince William, meanwhile, was wearing a different clothing from the event. The bridegroom wore the red Irish Guards tunic during their wedding; he was Colonel in Chief of the unit at the time, but Princess Kate succeeded her husband in 2022. Later, he switched to the black Blues and Royals uniform seen in the updated picture.
The new picture was credited to Millie Pilkington. The image of King Charles and Queen Camilla that was made public to commemorate their coronation’s first anniversary was recently taken by a portrait photographer. Last year, she also took birthday photos of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, the three children of William and Kate.
“Wishing the @princeandprincessofwales the very happiest wedding anniversary,” Pilkington said on Instagram, where she shared the recently revealed wedding photo. I can’t believe I took this portrait almost exactly 13 years ago. They should want to share it because they are so happy and honored.
In addition, Westminster Abbey commemorated Prince William and Princess Kate’s anniversary by posting a video of the couple’s 2011 wedding ceremony at the famous London building on social media. Just before the couple was taken away for a journey in a horse-drawn carriage, the bells tolled and the audience applauded for them. Their lovely bridal party trailed after, along with Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton, their siblings.
After meeting in 2001 while attending the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, Prince William, 41, and Princess Kate, 42, were married on April 29, 2011. On their wedding day, Queen Elizabeth bestowed upon them the titles of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The couple went on to have three children: Prince George, who is now ten years old, Princess Charlotte, who is eight years old, and Prince Louis, who turned six last week.
The anniversary of the Prince and Princess of Wales coincides with Prince William’s first public engagement following the announcement that Princess Kate is receiving cancer treatment. In a self-written address that was made public on video on March 22, the Princess of Wales revealed the news and revealed that post-operative tests after her abdominal surgery “found cancer had been present.”
In order to “reassure George, Charlotte, and Louis that I will be okay” and “explain everything to them in a way that is appropriate for them,” the royal mother claimed she and Prince William took some time.
Following the news, Prince William cleared his schedule to be by his wife’s side, just as he had done following her abdominal surgery in January. After their kids returned to school after the Easter break, he attended his first public event.
Princess Kate’s longstanding family friend told PEOPLE how the Prince of Wales is a source of strength for her shortly after the princess made the revelation about her health.
He is a strong, trustworthy individual. William is standing right next to her, so she doesn’t feel alone in this,” the friend remarks.
Princess Kate had mentioned in her video message that Prince William is “a great source of comfort and reassurance” during her treatment, and this remark resonated with her.
“The goal here is to help her feel supported and to support her. It is a team endeavor. “She doesn’t feel alone at all,” the source claims. “Neither he nor Catherine would be the same without the wonderful support system that they have built in their nuclear family.”
A fresh photo of the royal couple was released in April 2023 to commemorate their 12th wedding anniversary.
Beneath the picture of the Prince and Princess of Wales riding bicycles with an arm around each other, they wrote, “12 years.”
Photographer Matt Porteous took the picture in the Norfolk countryside in 2022; it was one of several photos he had previously taken of the family in that area.
Anmer Hall, part of the royal family’s Sandringham estate, is where Prince William, Princess Kate, and their children are known to spend a lot of time, and where Kate is thought to feel most at home.
