Despite the terrible scene, the story ends happily:
The Nebraska Humane Society revealed the startling tale on April 15. When someone called Animal Control to report hearing an animal inside a dumpster, she was surprised to learn it was a dog and not, say, a raccoon.
The dog was in amazing condition; his legs were roped together, and duct tape completely wrapped his head and tail. Additionally, “food and other debris caked in his fur,” according to the statement.
Staffer Kevin Wiederin responded to KETV by saying, “I have never seen anything like it.” The front and back paws, along with the entire muzzle, were taped together. It was merely sitting there, its eyes also covered with tape.
I was utterly disgusted. He went on to say, “I’ve never seen anything so ugly.” “It is inconceivable to harm any living creature, much less a helpless little dog, and then throw it away like trash.”
It’s surprising that he was found in time; according to NHS, a truck arrived and removed the bin 30 minutes after Animal Control received the report.
The Nebraska Humane Society received the puppy. Before starting to edit the tape, the staff gave him a tranquilizer. To get rid of all the grime, they had to shave his fur.
Even though the dog had some skin irritation, they said on Facebook that he was “otherwise healthy and seemed to be in good spirits despite his condition” and that he “perked up and was wagging his tail.”
Thankfully, after the tape was removed, the crew discovered a microchip. The dog, named Leo, was told that he had vanished a few days before.
Erin Dillon-Pasillas, Leo’s owner, claims that when she was leaving her son off at school, the dog broke out of the house. She called animal shelters in a panic a few days after she lost her cat.
“Every day became very difficult… It was nothing but crickets, she told KETV.As I called them, I was trembling. You know, you say to yourself, “Please be my dog.”
