The ecology and marine life are in danger because of the growing problem of trash and plastic in the water.
In 2015, a man who was kayaking off the coast of Gran Canaria saw the effects of pollution in the water for himself. While he was out on the lake, something big hit his boat. He couldn’t see what it was.
As the animal came closer, he saw that it was a turtle that needed help badly. The flipper and neck of the poor animal were caught in a fishing net.
The man was lucky that he moved quickly and let go of the net, which let the turtle go into the ocean.
