Wait Until You See Inside This Man’s Home Based on an Airplane
Former electrical engineer Bruce Campbell, 64, has always been imaginative. When he invested $23,000 in his early twenties buying ten acres of forest outside Hillsboro, Oregon, he had a clear plan. He set out to build an amazing mansion for himself using an old airplane and the enormous quantity of land he possessed.

The Boeing 727
In 1999, Campbell purchased a Boeing 727 from Olympic Airways for an astounding $100,000. To get to Oregon, the massive aircraft had to be flown all the way from Athens, Greece. The entire cost of transferring the jet to his land, including transportation expenses, was approximately $220,000. Despite the high cost, Campbell believed the money was well spent.

Interior Design
Inside the plane, Campbell kept a few essentials. He retained the plane’s original restroom and a few seats, but added a sink and washing machine for convenience. He has everything he needs in this simple yet useful environment for day-to-day living.
A Simple Lifestyle
Despite the Boeing 727’s large capacity, Campbell rarely spends time in his unique home. His kitchen is furnished with a microwave and a toaster, and he mostly eats cereal and canned food. He manages to make his special home work despite living a modest existence.

A Magnificent Achievement
Even if living in an airplane home might not be for everyone, we can’t help but admire Campbell’s achievement. His inventiveness and perseverance in turning an old airplane into a residence is truly remarkable.
