The past two days have been consumed with Donald Trump’s inauguration, and the Trump family and inner circle have been the center of attention.
But in the midst of it all, JD Vance’s little daughter unpredictably took center stage.
What she wore on her hand made everyone’s hearts melt.
matching suits and blue ties
On January 20, the Vance family went through a momentous occasion. Additionally, images of J.D. Vance and his family at the inauguration of the newly elected vice president quickly captured the hearts of people nationwide.
With his wife, Usha, and his three children, Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel, Vance appeared content and proud in the pictures.

When the Vice President showed up for the event in a sharp dark blue suit, you could tell it was a big deal for him personally. The fact that he won his first political race in Ohio just two years ago is astounding.
During the swearing-in ceremony, J.D. touched the Bible his wife, Usha, was holding as he took the oath of office. Usha stood proudly behind her husband, holding daughter Mirabel, 2, in her arms as their kids, Vivek, 4, and Ewan, 7, dressed in matching blue suits and ties, looked on. The otherwise picture-perfect family moment was ruined by a small but charming gesture that attracted viewers’ attention.
The Mirabel moment
Mirabel was gnawing on her thumb and had bandaged her little fingers. It was such a poignant moment because, amidst all the ceremonial and momentous events of the day, she reminded everyone of the sweet, simple innocence of toddlerhood. It wasn’t just the cute bandages on her fingers; it was the casual way she was enjoying such a momentous occasion. Her casual, naïve charm made it much more unforgettable. It reminded everyone of how simple it is to be a child, even in the spotlight, much like when you’re engrossed in your favorite cartoons, like Scooby-Doo or Bluey.
Like any small child, she had her own little quirks, which made the situation more relatable and realistic.
Social media was immediately filled with praise for the toddler’s unadulterated charm. One person on X said, “I think the whole country can agree that JD Vance’s daughter sucking her thumb while wearing those kid bandages on her other fingers is absolutely adorable.” “That’s a classic toddler move,” another person said, referring to JD Vance’s daughter bandaging herself right before a big event.
In another photo, J.D. captured another precious family moment as he bent down to talk to his two sons. One of the children, leaning on a railing, held on to a plush bear, proving that even important events cannot replace the comfort of a cherished item.
Bandaged
But Mirabel wasn’t the only person drawing attention. With her tea-length, delicate pink gown and unique Oscar de la Renta cashmere coat, Usha, the nation’s new Second Lady, also garnered notice. Even though the outfit was elegant, people weren’t just raving about her clothes.
Usha, who grew up in a middle-class San Diego neighborhood as the daughter of Indian immigrants, has always been a source of strength and pride for the family. After meeting in law school in 2010, she and J.D. were married in 2014. On Monday, Usha also accomplished a significant milestone as the first Indian American Second Lady.

After the ceremony, J.D.’s sons were taken out of the U.S. Capitol, each of whom walked with a guard while Mirabel was being carried.
Fans nationwide praised the Vance family as “lovely,” captivated by the children’s generosity. One fan remarked, “Vance’s little daughter looks just like him.” Cute.
Parents of three children
J.D. Vance and his spouse, Usha, have three children together. The parents of the Vance children have largely kept their personal details private, even if they don’t often appear in public.
Their youngest daughter, Mirabel, was born in December 2021, their second son, Vivek, in 2020, and their eldest son, Ewan, in 2017.
The Vice President shared a heartwarming hospital photo and the good news in an Instagram post that has since been deleted. In the photo, he was holding their newest family member with tenderness:
We had the good fortune to receive an early Christmas present this year. Please welcome Mirabel Rose Vance, our first girl. Mama and baby are doing great, and we’re feeling very grateful this Christmas season,” he continued.
In February 2024, J.D. also celebrated his son Vivek’s fourth birthday with a touching reading of Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go! on the Senate floor.
He expressed regret for missing his birthday supper during the reading. But I want you to understand how much Daddy loves you. I’m going to videotape this as well because you might be able to see it at home.
Everyone in the audience was reminded of what truly matters in a world too often dominated by politics and conflict by the simplicity of a toddler’s bandaged fingers and a plush bear: family, love, and the moments that make life gloriously imperfect.
As one viewer so beautifully put it, “J.D. Vance has the CUTEST daughter.” She’s adorable.
