My sister stole my fiance a month before the wedding and my parents supported her – i visited her at her wedding…

The day that was supposed to be the happiest of my life will always be in my memory. I went from being a soon-to-be bride to an unwanted wedding guest who was just there to exact revenge. But Karma beat me to it and arrived before me.

When I first met Ethan two years ago, I was positive that I had found love. He was funny and engaging, and he knew exactly what to say to make me feel special! When he proposed to me seven months ago, I thought I was the luckiest woman alive, but I had no idea that I would never become his wife.

I also appreciated how involved Ethan was in everything. We collaborated to plan every detail of our wedding! From the elegant garden and ballroom to the cascading white roses and other flowers.

We tasted several cakes before deciding on the perfect one, and we chose the song we would dance to as husband and wife! Every moment seemed perfect, like something from a fairy tale, until a month before the wedding, everything fell apart.

It happened on a normal Wednesday. I had left work early so I could surprise Ethan with his favorite dinner. Just a small token to express my appreciation for him.

I opened his apartment, imagining the happy smile on his face as he saw me with a bag of hamburgers and fries.

But as soon as I walked in, I sensed something was wrong.

Over the back of the chair draped a woman’s coat. At first, I thought he had a visitor, either a family member or a coworker. But as I heard quiet laughter coming from the bedroom, my stomach turned.

As each step grew more challenging, I headed for the door. With shaking hands, I grabbed the handle and cautiously opened the door.

There, twisted under the sheets, was Ethan. with my older sister, Lauren!

Time seemed to stop as I tried to make sense of what I was witnessing. The man I would marry in a month was having an affair with my sister, who was my biological related!

Lauren gasped and covered herself right away, but Ethan? He just sat up, seeming completely indifferent.

“Wait,” I managed to say. “What the devil is this?”

My supposed fiance sighed and combed his hair as if I were the one behaving unreasonably. “You shouldn’t find out this way.”

“Find WHAT?!” I shouted in a shaky voice. “That you are an untrustworthy liar? That my own sister has betrayed me?

Lauren’s face was white, but she said nothing. She just held on to the blankets and avoided looking at me.

But Ethan looked me in the eyes and said, “I love her.”

I was shocked by his comments. I expecting him to deny it and say it was a mistake, but he looked relieved, as though a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. I couldn’t believe my sister was having an affair with the man I was going to marry!

“You love her?” My voice broke. “So, what made you propose to me?”

He seemed to explain something obvious with a sigh. “I thought I loved you.” But after that, everything changed. Lauren and I have been dating for some time now.

For a while…

My stomach growled. This was not a singular mistake. How long they had been quietly cheating on me was unknown to me!

I turned to face Lauren. “How could you do me such harm?”

Her words were hardly audible above a whisper. “That was never the plan, sis.”

I laughed bitterly. “Never considered that approach! You didn’t just fall into his bed, Lauren!

Ethan leaped to his feet and embraced her. “Look, I know you’re hurt, but we didn’t want to lie to you any longer.”

My hands clenched into fists. Oh, you’d made up your mind to stop lying? That’s the limit!

I stormed out, trembling with anger and despair. I thought that was the worst. I was wrong.

A few days later, my parents called me in for a talk. I had been crying almost nonstop since the discovery. My friends and bridesmaids came to comfort me because I hadn’t heard from my parents yet.

I had the stupid assumption that they would support me this time. Instead, I walked right into a trap.

“We understand that you are hurt,” my mother said in an unduly sympathetic manner.

“But Ethan and Lauren love each other,” my father said. “Will you genuinely obstruct genuine love?”

I stared at her, stunned. “True love? Are you serious?

Mom sighed. Honey, you’ve always been independent. You’ll get over it. But Lauren needs consistency. She is also happy with Ethan.

I was afraid I would drown. You will simply put her in my place, then? Act as if nothing happened!

“We’re not taking sides,” my father said, but his tone implied that they were.

The final blow was then administered.

“The wedding is still going on,” my mom said. “Lauren will be the bride.”

I blinked. “You’re not being sincere.”

“It’s all paid for,” she explained, as if it were a valid explanation. “To squander all of those plans would be regrettable.”

My friend found the engagement ring one week before I was going to pop the question. : r/mildlyinfuriating

I stood up, my chair scraping the floor. “Amazing.”

“We wish you could be happy for her,” my dad continued.

I laughed bitterly. “Do you suppose I’ll have a party?

Lauren had taken my fiancé away from me, and my parents had, as always, stood by her side.

When I left that house, I didn’t look back.

Naturally, on the day of the wedding, I was not invited. But despite that, I still showed up.
