Teabags: 7 household remedies that show why you should never throw away a used teabag again

Coffee is the best thing in the morning. To start the day, I always have a cup. But in the evenings, I usually go for tea.

Naturally, you quickly have a hot cup ready after starting the kettle and adding a bag of your favorite brew.

After a few minutes, you remove the bag, dispose of it in the trash, and drink some tea.

But since my grandmother showed me some inventive uses for tea bags, I haven’t thrown any out.

Scroll down to see these inventive ways to use used tea bags. They are quite helpful, and you may even save money in the future.

1. Handle sunburns

Use cold water to rinse a tea bag filled with black tea.

It will become your new best friend if you get tanned in the summer or while traveling abroad. Black tea contains tannic acid, which has a long-lasting cooling effect and aids in skin healing.

2. Attend to minor burns

In an emergency, you can use the same tea bags that are used to treat sunburns.

If you accidentally burn yourself, apply a tea bag to the affected area. The tannins in black tea also cure minor burns.

3. Get rid of warts

Did you know that green tea’s antioxidants can prevent the formation of warts? Take a used tea bag and place it over the wart once it has cooled.

Remove the tea bag and insert a new one after fifteen minutes. Wait another fifteen minutes for the second one. Your wart will go away in a few days.

4. Get rid of eye puffiness

The tannins in black tea might also lessen the appearance of puffy bags under your eyes.

The next time you make a cup of tea, save the teabag. Put it in a small jar and keep it in the fridge for a day or two. When you decide it’s time to do something about the bags under your eyes, pull a couple tea bags out of your refrigerator.

Do you have to soak your dishes to get rid of stubborn stains?

Just fill your sink with water and used dishes. Throw a few tea bags into the water after that. The stains will be considerably easier to remove.

6. Weed killer

A bag of tea can be turned into a weed-killing concoction.

Use brewed black tea on weeds or make a tea recipe with tea, water, and citrus (orange or grapefruit). Tip Hero says you can also use black tea made in a jar with orange-rind vinegar as a spray.

7. The fertilizer

Compostable tea bags and loose leaf teas can be used as fertilizer in the compost bin and buried around plants.

Roses, ferns, and other garden plants love it, as do houseplants. You can also dig loose leaves or tea bags in around the plants to use them for plant growth directly around the root system.
