Teen athlete Austin Metcalf’s final post is heartbreaking

Condolences are pouring in for Austin Metcalf, a 17-year-old Texas student who was stabbed during a track and field competition.

In the 6900 block of Stadium Lane in Frisco, Texas, at Kuykendall Stadium, Frisco Police and Fire were tragically called to an incident on Wednesday, April 2.

It has now come to light that authorities were alerted to “an altercation between two students” that “resulted in one of them stabbing the other”. The victim, Austin, 17, was present at the track and field event with his twin brother.

As soon as news of the terrible incident circulated, people on social media paid their respects to the teen, and family members talked about the “senseless” crime.

Austin’s final post on X on March 31 has taken on a particular sadness in light of his departure.

“Have faith that God has me and that my efforts will be rewarded,” the child said.

Other X users swiftly conveyed condolences. One wrote, “What a precious heart.” He left this world far too soon. We may not understand the timing, but I know that God has him now.

Another reader wrote, “I’m praying for courage and strength for the family and friends during this very trying time.”

According to the New York Post, Austin and 17-year-old opponent Karmelo Anthony got into a brawl during the track and field event on April 2. The two had never met before the day of the event.

Anthony, who attends a different school, was reportedly sitting in the stands at Frisco Memorial High School when Austin urged him to leave the tent.

“And my brother intervened, saying, ‘You must relocate,'” Hunter, Austin’s twin brother who was also there, said WFAA. “Move me now,” he adds.

Then Anthony allegedly grabbed a knife from within his backpack. Then he gave Austin a chest stab wound.

Hunter tragically revealed how he attempted to stop the bleeding by keeping his brother in his arms while he waited for help to arrive.

Austin then called the twins’ parents after being placed on a gurney.

I had to find his brother because I was so concerned about the volume of blood and the location of the wound that we rushed to the hospital. We prayed, but they couldn’t save him, even though I don’t understand God’s plan. “This is murder,” Austin and Hunter’s father, Jeff Metcalf, told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

He was the leader of a man. His smile would light up the space. “His love for football was incredible,” Jeff wrote in a GoFundMe page following the tragedy.

Karmelo Anthony was charged with first-degree murder in relation to the stabbing after his arrest. He remains in custody at Collin County Jail on a $1 million bail.

Anthony’s father, meanwhile, described his son as a “good kid” and denied that he was the aggressor.

“Everyone has already made their assumptions about my son, but he’s not what they’re making him out to be,” Andrew Anthony told the New York Post.

“He did not launch the attack. He wasn’t the one who started it.

We are praying and thinking of Austin Metcalf’s family. I hope you find peace.
