Veteran comedian and Fox News regular says there are advantages to being on “Team Logic.”

As a working comedian for almost 20 years, Jamie Lissow was respected but certainly not a household name.

But in the two years since he began making frequent appearances on Fox News’ “Gutfeld!,” he has been riding high, attracting over 20 million viewers to his Dry Bar comedy special, “Something Awesome.”

He is thrilled to be returning to the Chicago region and will perform twice this week at the inaugural 312 Comedy Festival: on November 3 at Zanies Rosemont and on November 4 in the Old Town location.

After a prior performance at the Chicago-area Zanies, he realized the impact “Gutfeld!” was having on his career.

Every seat was taken, and as soon as I walked in, everyone turned to me and started yelling “Jamie” and cheering my name, Lissow said. And I asked myself, “What’s going on?” I am who I am. One of my favorite recollections is walking into a club and being watched by the entire crowd.

Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Lissow says his primary ambition in life was to become a comedian. He even recalls acting like a comedian on Halloween as a kid, while other males dressed up as pirates and ninjas.

He started his career at Rochester’s Funny Bone comedy club, where he was referred to as “the fill-in guy” and asked to stand in for comedians who had to cancel their shows at the last minute. Drawing on his experiences as a divorced father of three sons in Alaska, he eventually employed a lot of observational humor after developing a lot of apolitical comedy over the years.

In fact, he recalls that he had never consciously taken a side in the conservative/progressive political conflict until he met fellow comedian Greg Gutfeld while working at Fox News’ “Red Eye.”

Despite the fact that Lissow had been performing, after-showgoers kept coming up to Gutfeld to congratulate him on a job well done because of their remarkably similar attire.

When Gutfeld offered Lissow a guest panel berth, he was surprised at how well his doppelgänger fit the politics of “Red Eye.”

I would say that my conservatism changed as the world became more strange. “I didn’t pay any attention to politics before I met Greg Gutfeld,” Lissow continues. After some time, I realized I was on Team Logic. Since I believe liberals are so illogical and hypocritical, this is the only side I am now at ease with.

Saying something along the lines of “I don’t want a guy to say he’s a woman and then beat up a woman in mixed martial arts,” or “I think people should have a bit more choice and not lose their jobs if they don’t want to get vaccinated,” immediately puts you in a box. It is certainly polarizing.

Lissow has now reserved the last part of his presentation for political humor.

He added that sometimes people do get irritated in the last fifteen minutes, but if you try to please everyone, you don’t please anyone.
