Reuben Gray, a 16-year-old singer-songwriter, captivated the audience during Week 2 of the 2017 Britain’s Got Talent tryouts. Born in Guildford, Surrey, Reuben developed a passion for music from a young age and was proficient at the piano, guitar, and saxophone. He chose to play an original song called “Lifeline,” which is an earnest apology to his partner, after they had a brief argument.
Finding out that his father was in the audience when Reuben assumed he was out on business was a poignant moment. This surprise had a great effect on Reuben and added complexity to his act.

Every judge conveyed their appreciation. Reuben’s exceptional musicianship and the grace of the song he composed himself were commended by David Walliams. Alesha Dixon stated his father must be very pleased of his earnest effort. Reuben’s genuine skill was recognized by Simon Cowell, who also commended his honesty and creativity.
Reuben’s audition left a lasting impression on the crowd and onlookers at home, showcasing not just his musical ability but also the strong bond between father and son.
