My drunk husband tried to humiliate me in front of his colleagues, but then I did something that made him deeply regret his actions

I did something that made my drunken husband deeply regret what he had done, even though he tried to make fun of me in front of his colleagues😨😲

Sometimes you have to face reality. when the world you’ve worked so hard to build falls apart in front of everyone. For me, it took place during what was supposed to be a celebration of my husband’s achievements.

I was silent for some time. lived under his shadow. I grinned when I wanted to cry. When I was at my weakest, I supported him. He was always telling me that I would never be worth anything without him. And I believed in him. When I tried to refute him, all I ever got was, “You’re just my wife.” Acknowledge your role.

And that evening, it was much more of the same. My husband had gathered his friends, colleagues, and business contacts to celebrate the anniversary of his company. Glass clinking, visitors laughing, congratulations. He received a lot of praise and was the center of attention. I sat next to him like a statue, meant to look serene and lovely.

Then he stood up, raised his glass, and began to toast:

— “I am appreciative of everyone who helped me succeed. I have to say, though, that I managed everything by myself. Just me. And you, my dear. He turned to face me and grinned, saying, “I hope you finally realize it’s time to get a real job and stop leeching off me.” A successful man’s wife should, after all, be worthy. Not just a pretty box.

Uncomfortable laughing permeated the room. Others looked aside. And he went on:

— “I have always thought that marriage is an investment. However, as in business, investments don’t always yield profits. Maybe we should have another look.

Suddenly, something exploded inside of me. I couldn’t keep quiet any longer 😢🫣

I stood up. My heart was pounding wildly. Furthermore, I’ve never once regretted anything I said. I was tired of his maltreatment.

— “Now that we’re talking about the truth… Salutations, visitors. Despite your admiration for him, you don’t know anything about his personal life. You know what he said about giving his business mate a hug?An ignorant, uneducated fool who couldn’t even print a business card without me.

You were called “an old goat with money but no brains” by him. “And you,” I added, gesturing to his biggest customer. Just keep smiling and nodding.

I turned to face the others:

He declared that he “keeps them on a short leash” and pledged to “crush anyone who tries to make a move.”

It was quiet in the room. No one was smiling. Not even the those who laughed the loudest most frequently.

Then my husband’s biggest customer got up from the table, came over to him, and said, calmly, almost coldly:

— “The contract has been terminated. I’m not around jerks.

Then another. And one more. People started to stand up, come over, and announce that they would no longer collaborate. A few left the room in silence.

And he stood there in disbelief, holding his drink down. For the first time in his life, he was at a loss for words.

I simply picked up my purse and walked out. elevated head. I was no longer a shadow.

What do you know, too? I have absolutely no regrets about that.
