When my guide dog went through airport security a security officer did something that shocked me

😲 “When my guide dog went through airport security, a security guard did something that shocked me.”

Traveling is usually a little challenging for me. I am blind, so my guide dog, my loyal friend and assistance, is always by my side. He is more than just a dog; when I’m traveling, he serves as my eyes, my calm, and my confidence.

That day, we approached the security checkpoint. I was previously aware that this sector could be tense because not all personnel are taught to handle guide dogs properly. When one of the airport security officers came up to us, I was shocked by what he did.

After I tell you the whole story, you may judge the officer’s behavior for yourself 😵

But this time, things was quite different.

An agent from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approached us courteously.

He calmly explained that he would now conduct a standard screening for both my dog and me. I tensed up a bit—what if the dog became scared?

However, what happened next calmed my fears.

The cop gently massaged his hand over my dog’s body as if he knew exactly how to do it.

My dog spoke quietly and without making any sudden movements, and he stood calmly as if he knew it was only a formality.

For a moment, I even smiled since my dog had passed the TSA examination just like me.

This scene of a dog getting a “pat down” might amuse some folks.

But to me, it was a sign of true deference and professionalism. Because it is more vital to apply the rules with humanity than to merely observe them.

Since then, I have been thinking of the officer with gratitude. He went above and beyond what was required of him.

He showed that traveling may be safe when you’re among individuals that value and respect your uniqueness.
