Salena Webb, a mother from Duncan, South Carolina, has always loved going all out for Halloween. Each year, she spent weeks turning her yard into a full haunted scene — tombstones, skeletons, coffins, fog machines, dramatic lighting. It became something of a neighborhood attraction, with families stopping for photos and kids excited to see what she’d create next. For her, it was about fun, imagination, and bringing people together.
That changed when a neighbor approached her with a heartfelt concern. His father was battling cancer, and the graveyard-themed decorations — especially the tombstones and skeletons — were deeply upsetting for him. He politely asked whether she might consider toning down the display.
