His Voice Was So Deep the AGT Judges Called Him the New Barry White

Lawrence Beamen singing on stage

Lawrence Beamen walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage in 2009 looking so nervous that the judges told him to calm down and take a deep breath. He admitted the moment meant a lot to him, and the panel promised they were all behind him.

Then he started singing “Ol’ Man River” from Show Boat, and his voice dropped into a rich, rumbling low register that filled the whole theater. Every note sounded steady and full, as if the song had been written just for him. 🎶

The judges were stunned. One of them called him a class act who brought grace and talent to the show. Later in the competition, Piers Morgan went even further and told Lawrence he could be the new Barry White.

What started with shaking hands turned into one of the deepest voices AGT has ever heard. Lawrence proved that a calm, powerful voice can say more than any big stage show. ❤️
