A simple question from my son to a janitor changed our lives forever

My child asked a janitor a simple question that had a significant impact on our lives.

As usual, my 6-year-old son Micha and I were eating a typical lunch in a mall food court while people-watching. He was having his usual chicken nuggets, and I was eating my coffee. At that moment, Micha noticed an old man carrying a broom close by.

Slowly, almost painfully, he moved. He wore a faded clothing, his name tag read “Frank,” and his face told the story of many hard years of work and life in general.

“Why does he appear so depressed?” Micha leaned toward me and said softly.

“Perhaps he’s going through a difficult moment,” I replied gently.

Micha nodded slightly. Then, abruptly, he got up and walked toward the man with that spontaneous kindness that only children seem to have.

— “Hey! Do you want to have a seat with us? He asked.

Frank looked surprised.
— “Oh, thank you, little one, but I have to keep working,” he said politely.

“You are welcome to eat my cookie,” Micha remarked, grinning. It’s the biggest.

There was silence for a moment. They attracted the interest of interested people. Then Micha said, “Do you miss your dad?”

Time stopped. The old man stopped. Then, filled with emotion, he leaned down and hugged Micha tightly. I have nothing to say. Just tears.

The atmosphere of the entire food court altered. Even the workers stopped what they were doing. A woman, affected by the circumstances, whispered, “My God, this kid.”

A simple question from my son to a janitor changed our lives forever

A Simple Question When my son asked a janitor, it absolutely upended our lives.

It started out like any other Saturday. I was sitting in the mall food court with my six-year-old son Micha when he noticed a janitor named Frank who was clearly exhausted, stooped, and had a blank expression on his face.
“Why does he appear so depressed?” I was asked by Micha.

After a little while, Micha went up to Frank, handed him his cookie, and asked him nicely, “Do you miss your dad?”

Frank, unable to express how strongly he felt, hugged Micha tightly and wept.

The next day, Micha brought his old dinosaur sweatshirt back to the mall and handed it to Frank, saying, “It’s really warm.”

We were moved when Frank shared his story of losing his son and grandson in a vehicle accident. Saturdays, which used to be a time for fun and phone conversations, have turned into a time for solitude and quiet.

Micha then muttered:

– “You can still be someone else’s or my grandfather.”

From then on, Frank came to eat with us every Saturday. We shared sandwiches, stories, and memories.

Until one day he didn’t show up. We found out that the new administration had dismissed him due to his perceived slowness. Micha was devastated and posted a video begging for help. It quickly went viral.

Thanks to the generosity of online users, we were able to replace Frank’s heating system, pay his rent, and help him get back on his feet. Harold, an old friend, offered him a part-time work at his hardware store after he watched the film.

We were shortly joined by Harold’s granddaughter and grandchildren. Since then, we have been meeting twice a month. An unexpected family was created as a result of a single act of kindness.

And it all started with a simple question from a child.

Keep in mind that even a small action can have a significant effect on someone’s life.
