After careful consideration, Brian decided not to buy a dog but to adopt one from a shelter.
A German Shepherd caught his attention right away.
Her name was Sadie, and she was six years old.
She had been abandoned after her previous owner relocated and was unable to care for her in their new home.
Since then, the dog had been a little uncomfortable around men.
Brian was able to build a relationship with the dog.

But his weakness caused him to suddenly slump to the ground.
Fortunately, Sadie was with him and immediately took over.
The dog started licking Brian’s face to prevent him from fainting.
After that, Brian grabbed the dog’s collar and pulled him over to the table.
Brian was able to grab the tabletop phone and call for help.
The emergency services came quickly and were able to take care of Brian as Sadie stood there, loyal and protective.
