Shaq, 49, one of the richest athletes in the world, not only lavishes money on himself and his family, but also makes sure to give to others. He actually has a reputation for being generous and has frequently gone viral for his good deeds.
Shaq set a goal for himself to carry out at least one kind deed each time he left the house, and it looks that the man has been obediently adhering to this objective.
One of Shaq’s most recent acts of kindness featured an 11-person Texas family known as “The Collins Kids” on Instagram.
On February 23, Karissa, the family matriarch, detailed on Instagram how they came to be the beneficiaries of Shaq’s kind deeds.
The sports celebrity stunned the family by paying them a surprise visit last month and treating them to dinner at Babe’s Chicken.
Karissa, 36, posted on Facebook and Instagram that it was “so fun to just hang out and eat dinner with him.”
Shaq, though, didn’t want it to stop with a straightforward meal. He brought the family to a Mercedes-Benz store the next day to purchase them a brand-new 15-passenger van!
With another child due soon, Karissa said, “He didn’t even know we were outgrowing our 12 passenger van and the air conditioning wasn’t always working the greatest.” “This is such an outrageous blessing,” she added. “They didn’t have any in stock, so we got to customize and order a van that should be here in July.”
Mandrae Collins, a former member of the Harlem Globetrotters, is Karissa’s husband and a manager at a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Fort Worth.
After that, Shaq took them to dinner at Rainforest Café where, unaware that they were on a mission and had traveled from out of state, he paid for the full meal for another table.
The basketball legend then gave their waitress a huge $1,000 tip after discovering that her car had broken down that day.
Mandrae, 38, was the owner of a truck that had been operating without heat and air conditioning for some time. Shaq was unaware of this, but after spotting the car, he made the decision to take the family to a Ford shop where the dad could get a new truck!
In addition to the extravagant gifts and opulent dinners, Shaq had non-material gifts for the family.
He also took the time to love on us, encourage us, and speak life into our family, Karissa continued. “I have no idea what to say,”
Karissa, a writer and proprietor of Rooted in Christ Boutique, was asked on Facebook by a fan how she met Shaq, and she replied that it was through Instagram.
Karissa revealed the tale of how Shaq got to know them on a post from January 12.
“A few months ago he reached out to me on Instagram and sent my kids a video about how much he loved watching them and to call him Uncle Shaq,” the author wrote.
Karissa agreed when Shaq said he wanted to go see them.
“Of course, we would adore getting to know him and hanging out with him. My children LOVE seeing him in all of his commercials and movies, and I grew up watching him play baseball, she added.
On Karissa’s birthday, Shaq just so happened to be in town, so the basketball great stopped by to visit. The once-in-a-lifetime encounter, according to her, was “surreal.
He played “Watch ya mouth” with the kids, showered love and encouragement on them, kept them amused, posed for pictures with them, gave them gifts, praised us as parents, and just showed us so much love, Karissa recalled.
Anthym and Anchor, Karissa’s two little children, are wary of strangers, she said. But kids warmed up to Shaq right away and wanted him to hold them.
