After an inquiry, it has been revealed that the woman who claimed to have given birth to 10 kids at once was lying

In the summer of 2021, Gosiame Thamara Sihole went viral with her claims to have given birth to ten infants at once. While some expressed happiness and congrats, others thought there was a problem with her account. The truth was exposed pretty quickly after that.

Having ten children at once will always be a remarkable occasion; children are blessings.

There were rumors in June 2020 that a 37-year-old South African woman had given birth to ten infants at once at Steve Biko Academic Hospital.

Journalist Piet Rampedi wrote the story, which originally appeared on Pretoria News. He stated that Gosiame Thamara Sihole delivered the decuplets on June 7.

Ms. Sithole and her partner, Tedoho, came from a working-class township in the Gauteng area, close to Johannesburg, and were surprised to welcome decuplets when scans revealed she was expecting “only” eight infants, according to Pretoria News.

It was tantamount to shattering a world record, and the story quickly made headlines throughout all media, including those from abroad. Decuplets aren’t common, therefore it was easy for it to garner all the attention because it was astonishing.

The news article claimed that the group known as “The Temibsa 10” were naturally pregnant—none of the seven boys and three girls were born via infertility treatments—and that their delivery occurred via cesarean section.

In June 2021, Sithole said to Pretoria News, “My pregnancy has shocked me.” In the beginning, it was difficult. I was ill. For me, it was challenging. Though it’s still difficult, I’ve gotten used to it. It’s not as painful as it once was, but it’s still challenging. I simply ask God to assist me in giving birth to each of my children in good health and to ensure my own survival as well as that of my offspring. That would make me happy.

Contributions began to come in from all around the world, totaling over $70,000, according to the BBC, enabling them to care for the kids.

When it was discovered that Pretoria had omitted to specify the name of the hospital where the decuplets were delivered, the tale began to take a dubious turn. After the Gatueng authorities decided to conduct an investigation, no hospital was found to have delivered any decuplets.

She was also found to have never been pregnant, which bewildered many as to why she felt the need to make up such tales.

The couple’s friend, the journalist who broke the story, didn’t care to double check the news when they texted him to say they had received decuplets since he never imagined the pair could lie about something like that. He continued by apologizing to the media as well as his coworkers.
