On March 1, 2023, Homer, the father of Richard Gere, passed away in Downstate New York at the age of 100. Richard was greatly impacted by Homer, a North Syracuse volunteer and community organizer. In addition to providing facts about Homer’s life and profession as a successful insurance salesman and volunteer for North Area Meals on Wheels, Richard’s wife Alejandra confirmed Homer’s passing on Instagram. In May 2022, Richard, who frequently referred to his father as his “hero,” celebrated Homer’s 100th birthday at a restaurant. After spending a night in the hospital being monitored, Richard was released from the hospital, despite his previous health crisis in Mexico when he was diagnosed with pneumonia. Regarding his father’s passing, Richard Gere has remained silent.
