Man saves puppies but quickly realizes his big mistake

If someone unexpectedly discovered five puppies in their own garden, most people would undoubtedly respond. And Craig Mcgettrick has also had exactly that experience.

Together with a friend, he was cleaning out a garden in England when they discovered an old mattress. The mattress had to be lifted in order to be disposed of, but they had no idea what lay below.

He was shocked to find five small puppies curled up under the mattress.

In an attempt to assist in finding the puppies a new home, Craig shared some pictures of the puppies on Facebook and got in touch with a nearby animal shelter after discovering them.

But a few hours later, he would discover an unexpected fact about the young puppies that completely altered everything.

Back in 2017, it was just another ordinary day. Craig was assisting him in tidying up the area. While doing some cleaning, they discovered something that surprised him!

Craig discovered five what he believed to be small puppies or possibly kittens under a mattress.

“We thought someone had dumped them knowing we were going to remove rubbish,” Mcgettrick told The Dodo, adding, “Those were probably the only two options I knew of.”

Craig made the decision to bring the five small animals along. He requested that the babies be cared for by a nearby animal sanctuary. However, Craig shared images of the adorable young “pups” on Facebook in the hopes of finding a new home before giving them to the shelter.

After being widely circulated, the images eventually came into the possession of Martin Hemmington, the man who founded the National Fox Welfare Society.

He picked up the phone and called Craig as soon as he saw the photos. However, this was not his intention to adopt the puppies.

Hemmington posted on Facebook, “Through our Facebook Page, we were contacted by a lovely lady named Beccie. Beccie had sent a few photos asking if the babies in the photos were indeed fox cubs.” “We were able to ascertain that they were. Beccie informed us that they had actually been accidentally sent to a Liverpool rescue organization as pups rather than fox cubs.

Five small fox cubs were what Craig initially believed to be pups.

Paul McDonald, a local rescuer known as The Fox Man, told The Dodo that “people often mistake fox cubs for dog puppies because they don’t initially look like foxes when they are cubs.”

By getting in touch with Paul, Martin Hemmington ensured that the young fox cubs were at least slightly hungry, which would prompt them to begin beeping for their mother.

After that, Paul returned them with caution to the spot where Craig had discovered the fox cubs.

They soon noticed a fox moving toward the cubs. At last, their mother had reclaimed her cherished small children.

When they get older, vixens will start to explore their environment more and more and will become less dependent on their mother. They will also constantly leave their pups in the cave. Paul McDonald

The mother fox has at last gotten her cherished babies back, thanks to Craig, Beccie, Martin, and everyone else who shared the pictures. Fantastic!
