The Korean actress Park Soo Ryun met a tragic end last month when she passed unexpectedly only hours before a performance. On June 13, 2023, Ryun was on Jeju Island, the largest island in Korea. On her way to her performance, she accidently tumbled down a flight of stairs.
Slipping on stairs can be scary and painful, as you are surely already aware, but in Ryun’s case, it was fatal. Following her transportation to a neighboring hospital, medical professionals tried in vain to revive the 29-year-old celebrity. Her heart continued to beat, but medical professionals pronounced her brain and legally dead.
It was a difficult decision for Ryun’s family to take her off life support. Instead, they decided to donate her organs because her heart was still beating. There must be someone in urgent need of organs, in the words of Ryun’s mother. The knowledge that her heart has found a new home and is continuing beating as her parents will allow us to go on.
Ryun’s most well-known role was as a supporting actress in the Disney+ K-drama series “Snowdrop.” She is not the only member of the cast who died young. Her costar, Kim Mi-soo, died in January 2022 at the age of 29. We don’t know what killed her.
Ryun’s admirers have expressed their grief over her loss on social media through her posts. One comment reads, “Rest in peace.” We shall miss you.
One fan said, “Rest in peace, miss Soo Ryun.” I’m sorry your beautiful life ended up ending so quickly.
