A recent video depicting an incredibly moving and heartwarming scene was shared on Twitter by user Parveen Kaswan. In the video, rather than in protest, we witness a depressing scene as people and cars stop on an empty road to assist grieving elephants.
An elephant carrying a dead young elephant in its trunk is seen softly approaching in the video. Anguished, the elephant gently places the dead calf on the other side of the road. More elephants enter, forming a solemn circle around the deceased young elephant.
Parveen Kaswan, the person who uploaded the video, notes that the family of elephants refuses to leave the baby’s side, resulting in a mournful “funeral procession.” They mourn, but they move past it eventually. They do, however, bring the dead calf with them, displaying a profound display of sadness and sympathy.
This poignant film serves as a powerful reminder of the deep emotional relationships elephants have, as well as their ability to grieve for their young. It offers us a glimpse into the complex and fascinating world of animal emotions. We are reminded that, like the rest of us, these incredible animals are capable of experiencing love, empathy, and grief.
