Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s departure from royal life in January 2020 marked the beginning of a strained relationship with the royal family. The couple’s life drastically changed after they relocated to Montecito, California, and focused on raising Lilibet and Archie.
As a result of their choice to come out, especially following their Oprah interview and the publication of Harry’s book “Spare” and a Netflix series, the Sussexes’ dispute with the royal family worsened. Prince William and Kate Middleton refrained from speaking in public as a means of defending themselves from the couple’s accusations.
Ingrid Seward, a royal specialist, believes Meghan Markle should first provide a “groveling apology” before thinking about reconciliation. She emphasizes Prince William’s stance, stating that he requires a sincere apology from Harry for the years of abuse that he and Princess Diana endured.
Even at occasional family gatherings, such as the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, tensions persist. Tom Quinn, another royal analyst, believes reconciliation is improbable and points to Meghan’s belief that Kate could have supported her more during her time as a working royal.
Reconciliation has not been made any simpler by Kate Middleton’s health problems or other recent occurrences. Though plans for a united family get-together have been discussed, Meghan’s objections and reluctance prevent things from forward.
Meghan’s concerns over her children’s safety and her unresolved grievances are significant obstacles, but Prince Harry’s travel to the UK for the Invictus Games anniversary event might be a chance for interaction.
It seems unlikely that the two spouses will reconcile considering how deep their differences are and how much each of them wants to apologize.
