Tori Spelling, well-known for her role in the hit 90s series “Beverly Hills, 90210,” recently talked about her deep emotions after her co-star Shannen Doherty passed away. Spelling opened up about her last conversation with Doherty, who died of breast cancer at the age of 53, on a recent episode of the “90210MG” podcast.
Spelling expressed regret for not having had more opportunity to address Doherty’s previous offenses and make atonement. Nevertheless, she was grateful that they had had this long talk before Doherty’s death. Her podcast co-host, Jennie Garth, expressed her happiness for Spelling as well, but she also acknowledged that she wishes she and Doherty had had a similar conversation.
Spelling talked back to her time as Donna Martin on the TV show “Beverly Hills, 90210,” which she co-created and executive produced with her father, Aaron Spelling. Doherty played Brenda Walsh’s character for the first four seasons of the show before she was fired. Even though Spelling admitted in 2015 that she had a hand in Doherty’s firing, Doherty was able to make apologies with both Garth and Spelling before she passed away.
Spelling claimed that the loss of Doherty had damaged her and that she was finding it difficult to cope. Garth expressed her amazement and disbelief but also praising Doherty for her amazing fortitude in fighting her illness. Spelling claimed that Doherty’s stubbornness and rebellious nature made it difficult for her to accept that her fight with cancer was over.
Following Doherty’s demise, a number of their “90210” co-stars paid tribute to her on social media. Jason Priestley, Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Carteris, Garth, and Spelling have all paid respects to their late co-star. Spelling expressed her love for Doherty, stressed how their friendship blossomed into an adult connection, and promised to carry on Doherty’s legacy in her dedication to him.
Doherty’s death happens five years after that of fellow “90210” co-star Luke Perry, who died in 2019 at the age of 52. The “90210” family is in mourning following the deaths of several other cast members, including Denise Dowse, Joe E. Tata, and David Gail, in previous years.
The memories and emotions that Tori Spelling talked about in her podcast serve as a reminder of the strong relationships that developed between the cast members of “90210” and the impact that Shannen Doherty had on both her co-stars and her fans.
