A father sparks an online debate after rocking his daughter’s head for 45 minutes to help her sleep during a flight

People are frequently seen debating different subjects online these days.

You could argue that it was inevitable, that heated debates would unavoidably result from putting millions of people in one place and giving them the freedom to express any opinion, no matter how radically opposite.

Even while controversial pictures and videos are increasingly widespread on the internet, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be seen when they do. Here at Newsner, we’ve talked about many of these topics in the past. The picture of a father and his sleeping kid on an airplane had received a lot of attention, so we felt it would be worth sharing.

Reddit user u/therra123 shared a photo of a father and daughter hugging on the r/MadeMeSmile discussion thread, which sparked the disagreement.

The user uploaded a picture of a girl curled up in her aisle seat during a flight. The armrest is a fairly rough and harsh pillow, as anyone who has used one would attest, and her father had put his palm under her cheek to keep her from resting her head on it.

The caption for the picture on Reddit reads, “This man held his hand in this position for 45 minutes so his daughter could sleep well.”

At this point, we have to admit that, in our opinion, this is just a parent going about his daily activities. Despite the message’s fitting designation as “heartwarming moments,” some Redditors disagreed.

The parent received a lot of flak for his actions; some just claimed that he ought to have performed better.

Almost 60,000 votes and thousands of comments made the piece popular right away. Among the responses were stuff like:

“I believe there has to be a more effective way to handle this.”

Another person said, “Don’t you have your blanket?” The most important thing to keep in mind is to pack a blanket.

A third individual commented, “This shows a clear lack of creativity in problem-solving.” You had 45 minutes to think of a feasible response, and you couldn’t. Hi there!

“Seriously,” a fourth person wrote. All it takes to make an instant pillow is to wrap up a hoodie. Alternatively, consider this ridiculous suggestion: request a blanket and pillow from a flight attendant.

Some, though, were more tolerant of the father and his gesture. It’s interesting that we fit within this group as well!

What say you? Did you think it was improper that the father made his daughter’s makeshift pillow out of this flight? Please share your thoughts with us by posting a comment.
