When Patricia Clarke fell pregnant in 1983, at the age of 24, she knew her unborn child would be famous from the beginning.
She knew that her family typically had huge babies because she had already had one child. She was pregnant, but she had no idea how big the baby would wind up becoming.
Patricia gave birth to Kevin Robert Clark, who proudly weighted more than sixteen pounds. Not only was he the biggest baby born at Community Memorial Hospital, but he was also possibly the biggest baby in the state of New Jersey at the time.
Kevin’s parents were relieved to learn that he was in excellent health despite being too little for a crib and unable to fit into a conventional size crib.
Of course, everybody noticed his size right away. He became well-known across the country, was featured on “Good Morning America,” and served as the model for a segment on “Saturday Night Live.”
Start off the way you want to go on.
But Kevin wasn’t done taking center stage there. When he was twelve, according to the New York Post, he stood five feet seven inches tall. By junior high, he had grown to six feet five. After that, he merely continued to get larger.
Kevin told the Post, “It seems like someone asks me how tall I am every day.”
I like to make jokes about my height of 5 feet 21 inches. When someone asks me if I play basketball, I reply that I play miniature golf.
Today is Tom’s 35th birthday. He lives with his 6-foot-6 wife and Great Dane and was in the military before.
He can certainly get used to the fact that he is taller than nearly everyone else. In fact, he truly accepts everything with great grace. These days, Tom is six feet nine inches tall.
It must be tough to be nearly born into the limelight and to be the subject of inquiries and stares all the time. Still, Kevin seems to be handling it rather well. We’re hoping for the best for him going forward!
