A 12-year-old girl from Easley, South Carolina, saved what could have been a horrible moment by making the judges and audience remember her amazing performance during an interrupted “America’s Got Talent” audition. Judge Simon Cowell abruptly ends Ansley’s performance of Aretha Franklin’s “Think” as she is starting to play it, calling the background music “horrible, horrible.”
Cowell gives it some thought and decides that Ansley should perform without any musical accompaniment. She accepts, despite her first shock, and even takes a taste of what Cowell calls “magic water,” a mocking reference to the water in his cup. She receives thunderous ovation from the judges and audience.
Ansley starts singing the song with the assurance and grace of an experienced performer, her confidence growing.
Her performance wins over all four judges with a resounding “yes,” guaranteeing her a spot in the following round.
