Viewers of “Wheel of Fortune” are protesting because they believe that Megan, a contestant, was wrongfully refused $40,000 for what could have been the correct response.
As part of a bonus assignment, Megan, a married choir director at a high school in California, had to come up with two terms that best described a “living thing.”
The half sentence “_ N’R _ _ _” became visible when host Pat Sajak led Megan to the puzzle board while the wheel was spinning.
Megan wrote “P_N_’ RC _ D” on the board after carefully choosing the letters.
In the final 10 seconds, Megan gave away her guess, which was either “Pink Orchid” or perhaps “Something Orchid.” Megan loudly voiced her displeasure at the right answer, “Pink Orchid,” as soon as the timer chimed and the appropriate letters showed on the monitor.
Suspecting that Megan could be correct, Sajak pulled out the prize estimate card and offered her a healthy $40,000, which was significantly more than the $14,007 she actually received.
Fans were furious with Megan’s reaction, which they felt was unfairly incorrect, and many of them vented their annoyance on Wheel of Fortune while watching from the comfort of their living rooms.
According to one observer, “the woman got screwed on the #WheelOfFortune bonus puzzle tonight; she totally said ‘PINK ORCHID’ right at the start.”
I immediately started questioning the judges when she stated that! I lip read and use subtitles because I am deaf in one ear and partially hearing in the other. One of her fans shot back, “Pink Orchid,” as she dubbed me, without a doubt.
“I’m exploding!” “Pink orchid,” she replied, comprehending! “WTF?” a third person said.
@Fortune Wheel, hello I unraveled the final one after hearing the competitor remark “pink orchid” at the beginning of the difficulty. A disgruntled onlooker remarked, “You owe her some $$$.”
@WheelofFortune, all right. You might be able to hear her say “pink orchid” if you go back in time to solve the last question from the most recent broadcast. You failed to properly acknowledge the winner. Play it once more now. Actually, that’s what she said! vivid orchid.
Following the controversy, viewers of Wheel of Fortune have been increasingly critical of the show for what appear to be errors, including a recent argument over a rhyme during an Express round. On January 22, the audience exploded as the program appeared to stumble over a response in the “Rhyme Time” category.
Jill, the third contestant, figured out the current humor by guessing two “y’s,” which led to the rhyme “Absolutely Positively.” Two of the other contestants were having trouble with it.
Supporters vigorously challenged the ruling, arguing that “Absolutely Positively” is not a rhyme.
One of the spectators wrote, “Hello, @WheelofFortune.” Would you kindly clarify how these two terms rhyme? Because they most definitely don’t.
