Former President Barack Obama’s daughter, Malia Obama, is used to being in the public eye. She recently made her directorial debut at the age of 25 with the short film The Heart at the Sundance Film Festival, erasing her last name and establishing herself as Malia Ann.
She was born on July 4, 1998, and her middle name honors her late grandmother. Malia claims that The Heart is a story about a man who is mourning the death of his mother and her strange wish. She focuses on loss, loneliness, and forgiveness.
Malia has prior experience in the field; when working in the writers’ room for Donald Glover’s Amazon Prime series Swarm, she co-wrote the episode “Girl, Bye.” Her colleagues have recognized her professionalism and creativity and claim she is committed to her art.

For her directorial debut, Malia looked relaxed and effortless with her wavy hair styled in tiny braids and minimal makeup. She joins a handful of celebrities who have chosen to modify their identities by deleting their family names, such as Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie.
