The judges and viewers were blown away by Cristina Rae’s act on America’s Got Talent 2020. She is a single mother who is homeless.
Rae talked about how she was homeless and living in her car while she was pregnant with her son Jeremiah. She also talked about how she came to “AGT” to change her life.
“I need this to make my life better.” Rae stood on stage and said, “As you can see, I’m a single mom who lived in her car while I was pregnant.” She held her cute child in one hand.
“Getting a house will change my life.” It’s my house.
As judge Howie Mandel told her to sing as if the AGT studios were her home, Rae gave a powerful performance of the song’s sad lyrics, which include “If I don’t get some shelter/Oh yeah, I’m going to fade away.” The judges gave her a standing applause.
After the fact, Judge Mandel told her that her emotional performance of “Gimme Shelter” by The Rolling Stones on Tuesday, the third night of tryouts, “blew the roof off” the building.
He then gave her his famous thumbs up and said, “Your voice is so amazing that there is only one way to describe it.” There’s no point in getting together like this until we find people like you. “I love you.”
Heidi Klum and Sofía Vergara both said nice things about her performance. “Really, you are unique.” My heart is beating fast for you. Are you ready for this right now? Klum pointed to the prized Golden Buzzer and said. “I am going to press the button for you.”
So Heidi Klum did just that. She slammed the button and threw golden confetti across the stage, which made Rae cry. The buzzer sent Rae straight to the live final acts.
Then Klum walked up to the stage, helped the woman from Tennessee, and gave her a hug. “You are great, and I wish you had that house,” Klum told herself. “And you are on your way to getting it right now.”
Rae sang Phil Collins’s “In the Air Tonight” before Cowell told her to sing another song.
“May I hear your second song too?” “What?” asked Cowell. “Would you like some water before you start?”
Simon Cowell’s offer didn’t worry Rae; she just said, “I’m going to let this adrenaline take me.”
Cowell replied, “Good answer.”
We can’t wait to see how Rae does in the next round, and we hope she wins so she can reach her goal of having a home.
