Since leaving “Live With Kelly and Michael” for “Good Morning America” six years ago, some changes have been made. The exit was a little rough; Strahan actually left three months earlier than planned, and Kelly Ripa, his co-host, was so shocked by his choice that she missed a week of work afterward.
She didn’t give a good reason for leaving when she got back. “I needed a couple of days to gather my thoughts; after 26 years with this company, I earned the right,” Ripa said when she went back on the show. There was a lot more talk about respect, communication, and care at work after this. Someone has said sorry.
Strahan said he was sorry for leaving, but their friendship has changed since they were the show’s hosts.
Not long ago, Strahan talked a lot about his relationship with Ripa (or lack thereof) and how the show stopped years ago.
This is what Strahan told Time: “Once Ripa left, their friendship never fully healed.” In fact, they don’t talk to each other very often these days.
In the interview, he said, “I learned that you can’t get other people to like you because of what happened with that.” “I haven’t talked to her in a while.”
Today, both Strahan and Ripa are still on their morning shows: Strahan on Good Morning America and Ripa on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” (since Ryan Seacrest became a co-host in 2017). He and Sara Haines host the third hour of the morning show in the early afternoon.
In an earlier interview with Deadline, Strahan talked about problems Ripa was having behind the scenes that he couldn’t change while they were still on stage.
On Day 1, I didn’t change into someone else. No matter what, I will never change my mind to fit someone else’s. A lot was taught to me by Kelly and the show’s chief producer, Michael Gelman. When the time came, it was time to go. Some of the things that were going on behind the scenes just came to light.
Good Morning America or Live with Kelly and Ryan? Which do you like better? Did you know that both Strahan and Ripa had such bad gout?
