Dr. Phil Ends His Legendary Television Show

The renowned daytime talk show hosted by Dr. Phil McGraw is coming to an end after an incredible 21-year run. When Dr. Phil announced in 2018 that his show would retire after the 2022–2023 season, a historic era in television came to an end. Dr. Phil has exciting new career goals in store and has no plans to slow down, even though he is stepping away from the spotlight during the day.

Over the years, Dr. Phil’s show has had a big impact on daytime television. Tens of thousands of visitors and millions of viewers have used it as a platform to seek support for issues ranging from addiction and mental health issues to marital issues. His advice has been a lifeline for many and has improved the lives of many.

Despite the show’s cancellation, CBS Media Ventures has announced that previously aired episodes will be accessible for the 2023–2024 season. This suggests that viewers will continue to have access to Dr. Phil’s ageless wisdom and advice long after the final episode airs.

Going forward, Dr. Phil is focusing on a new primetime initiative that seeks to give Americans a sense of purpose and core values. With this ambitious new program, Dr. Phil hopes to reach a larger audience by offering entertainment that is founded on morals and fostering fruitful discussions that lead to meaningful change.

In addition, Dr. Phil has been thinking about his profession and expanding his interests. He has been working on new scripted projects in addition to hosting two well-liked podcasts, Mystery & Murder: Analysis by Dr. Phil and Phil in the Blanks. These endeavors allow him to delve deeply into intriguing topics and engage his audience in new, personal ways.

Dr. Phil’s television career began in the 1990s when he began making frequent appearances as a guest expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show. His own show has broadcast over 4,000 episodes with over 20,000 guests since its launch in 2002. His impact is demonstrated by the astounding 5 million messages he has received from people who have been inspired by his work.

Right now, Dr. Phil’s show is the second most watched talk show, with an average of two million viewers per episode. This incredible reach shows how much of an influence he has had on his audience.

Steve LoCascio of CBS Media Ventures expressed excitement about the continued collaboration with Dr. Phil, pointing out that even if the show is ending, their connection will continue and open up new opportunities for projects in the future.

Dr. Phil’s finale marks a watershed in the history of daytime talk shows, following the finales of other iconic programs including The Real, Dr. Oz, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and The Wendy Williams Show. These exits mark the end of a television era that has fascinated and delighted audiences for many years.
