The following touching tale is the perfect illustration of how sometimes even the simplest deed of kindness can have a significant impact.
Lindsey Sheely, who lives in West Warwick, Rhode Island, ordered pizza one evening. As she exited the house to pick up her food, her two-year-old son Cohen raced after her and gave the delivery man a hug. When the child simply held out his arms toward Cohen, the guy was thrilled to embrace him back.
After a camera in her doorbell captured this heartwarming event, Lindsey decided to share it on social media to inspire hope. She had no idea, however, how much the delivery man appreciated her son’s gesture.
A man called Ryan Catterson messaged her to be the delivery man her child had cuddled with after her video went viral. He asked for permission to share her video. She was glad he wanted to do that, of course, but when she looked at his profile, she saw that he had lost his 16-year-old daughter, Alyssa, the previous week.
It had an impact on me because, after losing my daughter the week before, it seemed as though she was present. “It meant a lot to me,” Ryan told WLNE.
Lindsay called it “a little blessing from God” when she witnessed the impact her son’s embrace had on Ryan.
“Ryan brought our pizza for a reason, and I believe in divine intervention,” she said.
That embrace came at the ideal time and was exactly what this grieving parent needed.
“It was almost as if the universe or my daughter had sent it to me,” he told NBC 10 News.
Lindsay continues, “You never know what people are going through.” This is a great example of it, and we completely agree with it.
