‘Horrifyingly goofy’ creature washes onto Southern California beach

A scary sea creature washed up on the coast of a Southern California beach. Because of its horrific appearance, the images of it that were posted on Reddit were judged unfit for use in professional settings.

It was simpler to identify the repulsive animal thanks to the clear pictures and the initial poster’s statement that the deceased sea mammal was discovered around Dana Point, California.

“I agree with most of the Reddit comments that identified the swollen animal,” California Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesperson Tim Daly told SFGATE.

It’s most likely a dead moray eel, but it “looks a little bleached out from being dead.”

It is common to discover moray eels in the waters off the coast of Southern California because they are known to live in shallow water surrounded by reefs.

Although they are not considered to be particularly aggressive or venomous, it is nonetheless recommended to avoid them. If they feel threatened, they will use their two rows of razor-sharp teeth to bite and grasp.

Redditors who helped identify the eel expressed their happiness in response to the original post.

It’s a moray. Come back tonight to confirm. “It’s a Moray if the moon hits its eyes like a big pizza pie,” one reader wrote.

“A Moray is when the jaws open wide and there are more jaws inside,” someone other wrote.

“That’s a moray when the jaws open wide and there are more jaws inside,” someone else remarked.

I don’t know about you, but I’d hate to run into this creature in the sea!
