After observing that the dog refused food and remained within the tomb, everyone was shocked to find out why it behaved in this way.
On the edge of a little cemetery, a dog sat under a single pine tree day after day. It did not growl, whine, or move; it just sat and stared at a fresh tombstone marked 1958–2025. cherished spouse. loyal friend.
Two weeks.
Every morning, the dog was seen sitting at the grave, staring at the ground. It refused to eat or drink the food that kind locals brought. Sometimes it resisted and returned when someone tried to remove it.
People were confused, mumbled, and asked questions. Why didn’t it go? Why did it refuse food? But it only knew that it was waiting.
Every now and then the dog would look up and listen. However, there was silence all around.
Many were shocked by the dog’s behavior before they understood why it was acting that way.
One day, just before dusk, a woman came to the cemetery. Clouded, tired eyes. It was the widow. She was in too much pain to go to the funeral. But now she felt obliged to come. Something drew her in.
It was then that she saw him.
Like it was made of stone, the dog sat. It didn’t answer. Only after she said:
— Hector?
Did it hardly move its ear?
Everything became clear to her as she stood up, knelt, and looked into its eyes.
It wasn’t grieving because it didn’t move, eat, or drink. But it was waiting. awaiting a directive.
The owner had always raised Hector strictly, giving orders first, then taking action. Eat only with permission. Leave only when directed to do so.
At this time, the dog had no idea what to do.

But the next day the dog disappeared.
They found it laying right at the bottom of the same tomb in the morning. It seems to have its paws crossed in slumber.
