When Don Philip walked onto The X Factor USA stage in 2012, Britney Spears knew him right away. About ten years earlier the two had recorded a duet together, and seeing her again brought him to tears before he had sung a note.
Don explained that back then he never felt he was good enough. This time he wanted his shot, and he chose Beyoncé’s “Halo”, putting every bit of feeling he had into the song. 🎶
The judges did not hold back. One told him honestly that his voice was not up to the standard the show was looking for, and the panel voted four times no. Britney was visibly affected as she said no to her old duet partner.
