Dr. Phil announced that he had accomplished the program’s goals.
He first made an effort to confront significant societal issues and bring them to the forefront of the public discourse, especially mental illness.
He commented on the rise in mental health problems, particularly in youth, and linked it to the abuse of smartphones and the inflated accounts of people’s lives on social media.
Dr. Phil, a clinical and forensic psychologist, co-created the show in 2002 with Oprah Winfrey.
The show became a well-known venue for discussing mental health issues and providing viewers with “life strategies.” He was satisfied with his work after addressing the topics he set intended to cover, including the “silent epidemics” of mental health, and made the decision to end the show.
