One typical Tuesday afternoon, my phone rang to let me know that my wife Emma had left a message. Our marriage, after ten years of marriage, was built on love, respect, and trust. But this message would completely upend our marriage.
“Hey, my love! “Look what’s here!,” she wrote. I’ve included a picture. Instead of a smiling selfie, I was astonished to see Emma with substantially larger breasts, something we had never discussed.
I immediately called her. Emma, what is this? Why didn’t you inform me about this?
“Oh, I thought it would be a nice surprise,” she remarked nonchalantly. Is it not attractive to you?
“A revelation? Emma, this is a major procedure! How could you not discuss this with me? I asked, shaking my voice.
“I didn’t think it was all that important. “I wanted to feel better about myself,” she said in response.
Her comments were hurtful. Our trust was betrayed after it had grown more than ten years ago.
After a few days, I concluded that a marriage could not endure such a violation of trust. Emma grew aggressive, insisting that it was her choice and her body.
Even though our divorce was unpleasant, it was an indication of a more serious issue with misplaced trust.
