America’s Got Talent Cheerleader, 17, Dies Just Weeks After Earning A Standing Ovation On The Show

The country was captivated by Emily Gold and the Los Angeles High School dance team when they performed on “America’s Got Talent” in August.

America’s Got Talent competitor Emily Gold, a dancer from Los Angeles High School, was 17 years old when she passed away.

On Friday, September 13, at 11:52 p.m., the San Bernardino Coroner’s Office verified to PEOPLE that Gold had committed suicide.

CAHP Public Information Officer Rodrigo Jimenez said in a statement provided to PEOPLE that “officers from the California Highway Patrol Rancho Cucamonga area responded to a pedestrian down in lanes.”

When the cops arrived, Jimenez stated, “they discovered a 17-year-old female who had been struck by at least one other vehicle in the carpool lane on eastbound 210.””The woman passed away from her wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The police investigator, Officer S. Gonzalez, is requesting that anyone with additional information or who saw what happened get in touch with him.

America’s Got Talent reps, Los Osos High School, and the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department have all been contacted for comments.

The Southern California kid who won America’s Got Talent last month stunned the country with the Los Osos High School dance team. The group advanced to the series quarterfinals after making it through the audition procedure, but they were ousted in August.

Judge Simon Cowell praised the team for their energetic performance even though they were eliminated.

“It was just incredible,” Cowell said at the time.I loved this for its intensity beyond all else. What I just saw, in my opinion, exemplifies all that a great school should be about: developing skill and friendship.

“That reminded me of the High School Musical movie and how every child should attend a school like that,” Cowell said.

In an August 13 public interview, Gold said, “When I’m performing, I’m really thinking about all the corrections because we get corrections up until five minutes before we go on stage.” To really just think about all of those so that we may use them is my main objective while I’m on stage.

When asked how she managed to perform on AGT while a high school student, she responded, “It’s definitely tough to balance it all, but we make it happen.”

Gold’s loved ones quickly established a GoFundMe page to collect money for the dancer’s family after learning of her passing.

“We share the loss of our Los Osos Grizzly Emily Gold with great sadness,” the fundraiser stated.”Let’s come together as a community to support the Gold family through this difficult time. Make sure that the family will get direct support and help with expenses with this money.
