Star Wars and Harry Potter actor Warwick Davis has opened out about a new love in his life, more than a year after the tragic death of his beloved wife Samantha.
Actor Warwick Davis has said that he has fallen in love again, twelve months after the death of his beloved wife.
In March of last year, Samantha Davis, 53, passed away. At the moment, Warwick and their two children verified the heartbreaking news. The actor has recently disclosed a new significant other in his life when chatting with Jonathan Ross on the host’s chat show.
During the Saturday interview, Jonathan asked Warwick about his moving BAFTAs speech, where he mentioned an unnamed person who had been helping him deal with his loss. The Harry Potter star remained silent about the new woman in his life, referring to her as “Sponge” or “She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named.”Last month, Warwick Davis, who was awarded the BAFTA Fellowship, the highest honor bestowed by the British Academy, delivered a heartfelt tribute to his late wife, Samantha. Samantha received a heartfelt tribute for his reward from the 55-year-old Star Wars veteran.

Warwick praised his late wife for her unwavering support throughout his career and shared his thoughts on life after her death in a heartfelt message. “I want to dedicate and thank my wonderful wife Sammy, who passed away almost a year ago,” he stated, above everything else.
She was really supportive of my work and always pushed me to take advantage of every opportunity. But I soon realized that her need for that expensive purse was often linked to her excitement about me taking on a particular role.
Warwick thanked his children, Annabelle and Harrison, for enabling him to stay active and involved in life, despite the fact that he has found it difficult to cope with his loss. He fought back tears as he told his experience of finding love again and said, “Special mention too should go to Sponge.” You understand who you are. I’m grateful that you gave me the opportunity to laugh and fall in love once more and showed me that there can still be meaning in life.
This tragic statement was delivered shortly after Samantha, Warwick’s wife, died at the age of 53. He addressed the tragic news in March 2024 and expressed his sincere feelings about how her death had left a great void in their family’s lives. According to Warwick, Samantha was his “most trusted confidante and an ardent supporter of everything I did in my career.”
The couple had been together for 33 years and had two children. When Warwick, then 17 years old, was cast as Willow Ufgood, and Samantha, then barely 16 years old, was an extra on the set of the 1988 film Willow, their romance began. Sparks flew between them instantly.

Four years after their enchanted encounter, in 1991, they exchanged vows and welcomed four children into their family. However, they were crushed when Lloyd, their son, passed away suddenly at the age of nine days. With roles in Hollyoaks and The Dumping Ground, their 27-year-old daughter Anabelle Davis has built a successful acting career, following in her father’s footsteps.
Tragically, the family also had to cope with the loss of another son, George, during pregnancy, after they had already experienced two losses before Annabelle and Harrison arrived. In a 2019 candid interview with Bear Grylls, Warwick disclosed, “Before Annabelle and Harrison, we had a baby boy, Lloyd, who inherited both our conditions… and that is something that proves fatal.” A newborn won’t live through that,” he added. But Lloyd was beautiful, and he survived for nine days. It was a challenging time. Yes, our child was stillborn as well.
Despite the anguish of their losses, Warwick admits that these trying times simply strengthened his bond with his wife, Samantha. Warwick had previously been diagnosed with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita (SED), a rare genetic illness that would prevent him from walking or living past his teens.
However, Samantha had achondroplasia, the most common kind of dwarfism. Their children, Harrison and Annabelle, both have SED. After surgery in 2018, Samantha battled sepsis, which might have been fatal, leaving her family in a state of fear. Regarding those gloomy days, Warwick told The Sun, “I cried every night thinking that this terrible illness that came out of nowhere might take my soulmate away from me.”
However, Warwick later admitted in 2022 that Samantha was still dealing with “some PTSD from her experience,” and he revealed that he was struggling with it as well. After Samantha passed away last year, Warwick celebrated her resilient and joyful nature. She always saw the positive side of things, had a wicked sense of humor, and laughed at my poor jokes, he remembered. She had a distinct personality.
In honor of their mother, their children remarked, “Mum is our best friend and we’re honored to have received a love like hers.” With her by my side, I felt like I had a superpower that allowed me to do anything.
Warwick attributed his professional achievements to his wife, saying that without her unwavering support, he would not have had the Willow series or the Tenable quiz show. No Idiot Abroad, third series. She was driven to help people without making judgments. She had time for everyone and truly listened.
