Even though my child started talking early, people often found it difficult to grasp what she was saying.
One day on the bus, she said something that made everyone chuckle.
Despite the small number of attendees, every seat was occupied.
An elderly woman got on the bus after a few stops.
My daughter stopped to look at her; she was standing.
Then she got to her feet and shouted:
“Gramma, take my seat!”
The woman was moved by her gesture and sat down, smiling.
My daughter then proudly added:
“My mother taught me to always give up to the half-dead.”
The woman was a little confused and tried to figure out exactly what my daughter was saying.
I informed her that my child had mispronounced the phrase and had intended to say “to elderly people.”
The woman and the bus burst out laughing.
My daughter was delighted that her effort was appreciated by everyone, even though she had no idea what was going on.
