In the ninth month of my pregnancy, I attended my mother-in-law’s birthday celebration, where she welcomed me and gave me cake. However, after my dog ate a slice of the cake, she abruptly collapsed to the ground and was unable to rise😱😨

The house was occupied by multiple people. Family members were drinking, toasting, and laughing. It was all the same, boisterous and presumably peaceful. I went outside to the veranda, sat down in a chair, and just took in the fresh air when I started to feel out of breath.

After a few minutes, my mother-in-law came over to me. She had a plate with a piece of cake on it.

“Eat, dear,” she urged. “I created it on my own.”

I didn’t eat, but I did thank her. I had my dog seated beside me. The way she stared at the cake made me feel sorry for her. I broke off a small piece and handed it to her. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with it because it was simply a regular homemade cake.

About half an hour went by.

My dog immediately fell heavily against the tiles. I initially imagined she had simply chosen to lie down or was simply fatigued. Still, she did not move. As I bent down to her, I realized something wasn’t quite right. Her body became limp, and her breathing became laborious and uneven.

I grew afraid.

I told my mother-in-law that my dog had become unwell after ingesting the cake. I was only presenting a fact; I wasn’t making any charges. But she erupted immediately away.

She began accusing me of being at blame, arguing that dogs shouldn’t be fed human food, and that I was creating everything to make her feel worse.

And every minute that went by, my dog’s condition worsened.

There was no time to waste, I realized. We hurried to a vet’s office. I sat in the van and caressed her head, praying that she would just survive.

And what the veterinarian told us after the examination appalled me greatly…😱😨

The doctor examined my dog in the clinic for a long time before coming up to us and asking us only one question:

“Did you consume any of that cake yourself?”

My response was that I hadn’t. I answered that only the dog had eaten a little. The doctor sighed deeply and gestured for me to sit down.

My dog was severely poisoned, he explained. It wasn’t an accidental mistake or food that had gone bad. It was poisonous.

According to the doctor, the dosage had not been calculated for an animal. It was wonderful for a person, particularly a pregnant woman, but it was also far too powerful for a dog.

Eating that portion in the ninth month of my pregnancy would have had terrifying consequences. My child may have been lost. The ideal result would have been surgery right away. In the worst situation, it’s even frightening to think about.

I began to tremble. Sitting there, I became aware that my dog, not myself, had been struck. What was intended for me was eaten by her.

The doctors fought for her life for several hours. They said there was little possibility, yet she persisted.

Later, as time passed, specifics started to emerge. I was compelled to consume the cake first by my mother-in-law. She got upset when I didn’t. She never touched the cake herself and never served it to anybody else.

Too many coincidences exist.

As I put everything together in my head, I was truly terrified. I realized that she wanted to poison me. Not the dog.

And if my dog hadn’t stared at the cake with such expectant eyes, I might not have made it home that day.
