Elsie is 32, she comes from Mississippi and she is a mom. For years she put her own dream aside so she could help her husband chase his. On the America’s Got Talent stage she said that this time she was there for herself.
She did not pick a famous cover. Elsie sang “Forgiveless”, her original song about going down to the river to wash away old pain while still refusing to forget it. Her voice was strong and the crowd cheered her on 🎶
When the song ended she could barely hold back her tears. The judges were split. Several felt the heavy backing track held her back, and Howie voted no. Sofía, Simon and Mel B still said yes because they see real star potential in her.
