Thia Megia was only 14 and still in eighth grade when she came to America’s Got Talent from Tracy, California. She admitted she was nervous, because until then she had mostly rehearsed in front of a mirror at home and dreamed about singing for a real audience.
For her audition she chose I Am Changing by Jennifer Holliday, a huge song that many grown singers avoid. Thia stood calmly in the middle of the stage and handled every big note with the control and feeling of someone far older. 🎶
The judges were amazed. One called her a great little package with a huge voice, and another said she was the best singer they had seen in the competition so far.
The votes were a clear yes, and Thia walked off the stage with a trip to Vegas and a dream that had suddenly come true. ❤️
